Happy 2009!!! Yes, it’s the New Year. The children were asking what happens on New Years Eve…so we told them they could stay up as late as they wanted the “rest of the year” meaning 2008. Of, course that meant all deals were off once we hit 2009. Being we live in MN, we can watch midnight happen in New York City an hour earlier. So we only *really* have to stay to 11:00PM. I guess I’m not a purist. Watching the ball drop was good enough for my daughter. She was tired and went to bed pretty soon after. My son and husband are purists though and decided to stay up until Midnight. Both children were unimpressed by the ball drop…they said “that’s it?” And we said, “Yep, that’s it.” Anyway, I’ve been talking about how I want to go over to London and see and ride on the London Eye….I’ve never been across the big pond. Someday though, I will get to go. :) We decided to check out YouTube and see what happened over in London for their New Years Eve. Their celebration is much better and a much more interesting display of fireworks than simply watching a ball drop. Well, feel free to decide for yourselves:
New York:
And here is London:
That all brought us to this morning. I was drinking my coffee (I’m not used to being awake until 11:30 sheesh :)….and we caught some of the Tournament of Roses parade out in Pasadena, CA. It looks so sunny and so warm. So, I immediately thought VACATION!!! It’s already been a very cold and snowy December and pretty much once Christmas is over…I’m done. I just want warm and sunny. Alas…a quick search of the internet travel sites and well it’s a big NO. You can read that as NO CASH…NO VACATION! :) I guess we will stay here and freeze our little buns off. And since we did get to go down to DisneyWorld last February I really can’t complain. For those of you who do get to go on winter vacation this year….catch some rays for me…and next year I hope to be sitting on beach somewhere when it’s -30 degrees farenheit outside here.
Anyway, I do wish everyone a very happy and healthy 2009!! Hopefully, you’ll keep checking Tekkie Freak for Tekkie News and I do plan to step it up with the blog in 2009.
